A division of Chrysler Group LLC, the latest inheritor company to the Jeep brand, now holds trademark status on the name “Jeep” and the characteristic 7-slot front grille design. The original 9-slot grille linked with all World War Two
jeeps was designed by Ford for their GPW, and because it weighed less than the first “Slat Grille” of Willys ( an arrangement of flat bars ), was
amalgamated into the “standardized jeep” design.

AM General, a controlled subsidiary of American Motors Company, which also owned Jeep. In 1979, while still owned by American Motors, AM General started the first steps toward designing the High Mobility Multiple purpose Wheeled Automobile. AM General also continued producing the two-wheel-drive DJ, which Jeep created in 1953. The General Motors Hummer and Chrysler Jeep have been waging battle in U.S. Courts over a right to use 7 slots in their own radiator grills. Chrysler Jeep claims it has the exclusive rights to employ the 7 vertical slits since it is the sole remaining assignee of the various companies since Willys gave their postwar jeeps 7 slots instead of Ford’s nine-slot design for the Jeep.
The 1st working steam-powered car was likely designed by Ferdinand Verbiest
The first working steam-powered automobile was potentially designed by Ferdinand Verbiest, a Flemish member of a Jesuit mission in China around 1672. It is a 65 cm-long scale-model toy for the Chinese Emperor, that wasn’t able to carry a driver or a passenger.It is not known if Verbiest’s model was ever built. In 1752, Leonty Shamshurenkov, a Russian peasant, made a human-pedalled four-wheeled “auto-running” carriage as one of the most Natural Male Ehancement, and afterwards proposed to supply it with odometer and to employ the same principle for making a self-propelling sledge.Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot is widely credited with building the 1st self-propelled mechanical auto or auto in about 1769 ; he created a steam-powered tricycle.[12] He also made 2 steam tractors for the French Army, one being preserved in the French Nationwide Conservatory of Arts and Crafts.[13] His inventions were however handicapped by issues with water supply and maintaining steam pressure.[13] In 1801, Richard Trevithick built and demonstrated his Puffing Demon road locomotive, believed by many to be the 1st demonstration of a steam-powered road auto. It wasn’t able to maintain satisfactory steam pressure for extended periods, and was of small practical use.

But that year, crisis struck as John Dodge was felled by pneumonia in January.[7] His brother Horace then died of cirrhosis in December of the same year ( reportedly out of grief at the loss of his brother, with whom he was awfully close ) .[8] The Dodge Siblings company slipped into the hands of the siblings ‘ widows, who promoted long-time worker Frederick Haynes to the company presidency. In this time, the Model 30 was evolved to become the new Series 116 ( though it retained identical basic construction and engineering features ). Dodge Bros emerged as a leading builder of light vans. They also entered into a contract whereby they sold trucks built by Graham Siblings of Evansville, Indiana. The 3 Graham brothers would later produce Graham-Paige and Graham cars.

That year, the Dodge Brothers company was sold by the widows to the well known investment group Dillon, Read & Co. For no less than US$146 million ( at the time, the largest money transaction in history ).Dillon, Read & Co. Offered non-voting stock on the market in the new Dodge Siblings, Inc, firm, and with the sale of bonds was able to raise $160 million, reaping a $14 million ( net ) profit. All voting stock was retained by Dillon, Read. Frederick Haynes stayed as company head till E.G. Wilmer was named board manager in Nov, 1926. Wilmer was a banker with no vehicle experience and Haynes remained as president. Changes to the auto, save for negligible things like trim levels and colors, stayed minimum until 1927, when the new Senior six-cylinder line was introduced. The previous four-cylinder line was kept on, but renamed the Fast Four line until it was dropped in favor of two lighter six-cylinder models ( the Standard Six and Victory 6 ) for 1928.
On Oct first, 1925, Dodge Bros, Inc, purchased a 51% interest in Graham Brothers, Inc, for $13 million and the remaining 49% on May one, 1926. The 3 Graham siblings, Robert, Joseph and Ray, believed management positions in Dodge Bros before leaving early in 1927. Regardless of all this, Dodge Brothers’ sales had already collapsed to 7th place in the industry by 1927, and Dillon, Read started trying to find someone to take over the company on a more permanent basis.
